It’s finally Friday, the day I wait all week on. Now normally I don’t get all hyped up about Friday nights because shit let’s face it, I’m a mom and Friday nights down in Momville typically aren’t that exciting. This Friday night however, I’m not just a mom, I’m a mom with a babysitter! That’s right Ladies, be jealous. Momma is stepping out into the “real” world tonight and You know what that means, no yoga pants, hair done, full make up, push up bra and all I’ve gotta look like a boss y’all.
The Monster is spending the night with his best friends aka Grandma and Papa. It’s been a while since the Officer and I have been out in the “real” world, I hope I enjoy myself. Typically the night starts out good and about half way through the mommy guilt sets in and I start missing the Monster terribly and feeling like a horrible mother. It’s hell being’ a mommy, you can’t live with them and you can’t live without them (the kids that is) No matter how much you think you need the time away it never fails that you miss the hell out of them while their gone.
So tonight I will try my best to enjoy the grown up time for I deserve it. It’s been a long week and I know he’s in amazing hands with my parents. I’ll do my damnest to hold adult conversation (which after hanging out with a toddler all the time is a lot fucking hard than you think) and re-frame from challenging the Officer to a drink off (because I wouldn’t want to put him to shame)
If you’re not as lucky as I have to have a sitter this weekend then here’s to you and yours down in Momville- work those yoga pants gurrrrl!
Happy Parenting and Happy Friday, Cheers!
